This app screwed my phone

I downloaded this app for a school project, to highlight a specific part of a photo using the "mask" tool in "Filters". Quickly, it began glitch-ing out and not highlighting anything, zooming in and out of the photo. I clicked the home button and attempted to escape--it was too late. I was trapped in a prison of my own making by downloading a bad, free app. My phone couldnt turn off, shut down, sleep, i couldnt access any other apps, and suddenly my phone froze. Three hours. Three hours it was like that. -10 stars.
